...Home Away From Home...
Heeyaahhhh... it's been a while since I posted a new blog and a week has past since I left home and went here at Tallahassee Florida just to have training in my new work... Are you feeling any homesickness right now, Gino? well... ummm... at some point I feel homesick but most of the time it's fine living in here... When was the time you feel homesickness? ummm... whenever I saw my food that was not rice... hahahaha... cause in here the rice was so expensive compared to the Philippines... hehehe... I don't feel homesickness most of the time because all we do was go in training at the ACS (Affiliated Computer Services) campus (they call it campus cause their office looks like several houses in a compound) and go shopping in every store at night...
before I go skipping and skipping things... let me first start at our departure at the Los Angeles airport... by the way... in thios blog post when I say we it means that me together with my officemates... hehehe... Also, this blog post might be long cause I stuffed all my stories in my mind... hehehe...
At the LAX (Los Angeles) airport, we first went at the immigration where the real judgement takes place... if you would think that once getting a US VISA would grant you a total access
at the US of A... I will be giving you a big cross mark... as big as this... X... hahaha... anyway... a VISA would only permit you to go to the US of A but would not guarantee you that you can step on that land... This is where the immigration takes place... They have the right to sent you back to the Philippines or not... well for me... the immigration consul permitted me to stay at the USA until August 3, 2008... hehehe... Stories behind the consul will follow... I was a bit afraid when I faced my consul because his face looks like a panther that wants to strike you anytime but because of the Japanese Live Drama entitled Liar Game, it inspired me a lot... hahaha... I hand out some forms and started to talk (in english...) nose bleed... hahahaha... and I started to utter things like... "it seems the bee really loves you cause it wants to kiss you at the lips..." When he heard it, he told me that I am a funny guy... He also told me that I know how to get the attention of a person... (wooohh... hahaha...) I tell him my super gratitude when he stamped my passport to stay in the USA... hehehe... and he told me... your name was so long I want to rip it out so that it would fit the form properly... hehehe...
Since we are at the LAX airport and our real destination is Tallahassee Florida, we had a connecting flight scheduled... The airplane we rode from the Philippines up to LAX arrived at 9:30 and the connecting flight from LAX to Charlotte was 1045... Due to that short span of time... we hurried to the US Airways counter... from where we arrived, it was a long walk to the very cold street... You will feel the very cold wind touching your skin once outside the LAX airport... how cold is cold? It is far colder than the winds at Bagiuo... hehehe... while walking, I was freezing to death... hahaha...
Luckily, we arrived at the US Airways counter on time... hehehe... We are the only Filipinos aboard the airplane... Once in Charlotte, we had an another connecting flight but this time it will take us to our real destination which is Tallahassee... but it was a long wait... hehehe... I took a walk for a while... and I still consider Charlotte as a nice place... hehehe...
The time has come to ride another airplane... This time, the flight was delayed due to the fact that the first officer was not yet there at Charlotte... hehehe... At last we were at Tallahassee... Before I left the Philippines, I expected Tallahassee to be a city full of tall buildings because it was the capital of Florida but I was wrong... Instead of tall buildings, I saw tall trees... I said to myself... "Tallahassee was not a city but a province..." but don't let the looks fool you... Their facility was so hitech... There was a security facility where it was a bit funny... why? it is because people who saw us laughed at us as well as the security personnel... hehehe... inside the Tallahassee airport was so full of sensors... it includes the sensor at the door wherein we posed just for a second and a voice suddenly shouted at us... "Get Away from the exit NOW"
... hehehehe... Imagine a computer shouting at you... That what I felt that time... hehehe...
We finally arrived to where we will stay... The residence inn where we are staying right now is Marriott Residence Inn... This inn was so cool... hahahaha... I will be posting some pictures some time... hehehe... Just a glimpse... in every bathroom, there is a bathtub... free breakfast... free merienda/dinner... swimming pool... mini gym... and others... hehehe... I unpacked my things then one of us invited everyone to go in the nearest grocery... hehehe... a little fast forward... The next day it was our first day at the office... all of them were old... some of them were nice but one of them is not... hehehe... we stayed and listened at the office and right after the office hour, we went at one of the department stores at Tallahassee (but they call it a mall already)... hehehe... I never expected that shopping would be a part of my everyday life here... hehehe...
here at Tallahassee, I already bought the following things:
1. 1 Jeans
2. 1 Polo Shirt
3. 2 T-Shirts
4. Album of Marie Digby
5. and others... hahahaha...
I've also done some Bungee Jumping at the Tallahassee Mall... it looks like a Gaisano Mall for me... fyi... Gaisano Mall is a mall at the Visayas Region... hehehe...
Saturday came... We decided to go at Jacksonville... cause Tallahassee was a boring place... hehehe... I've spent $500 dollars at Jacksonville... ahuhuhuhu... Jacksonville was a nice place... compared to Tallahassee... hehehe... I said to myself... "How I wish ACS should reside at Jacksonville instead at Tallahassee..." At Jacksonville, we went at St. John's Town Center and at St. Augustine... All day was a shopping day... hahaha...
The things I bought are as follows:
1. Sony Cybershot Digital Camera W120 with casing and 1gb memory card
2. A bag for mom
3. Pants for dad
4. 2 Chuck Taylors (one for me and one for my brother)
5. Aeropostale perfume
6. Oakley sunglass
It should've been more... but I really pushed my limit break just to stop shopping cause it's still first week but I've already spent 500 dollars with just one day... hehehe... but I am still targetting several things at Jacksonville like... Calvin Klein jeans and polo shirt... Vann stuffs... another sunglasses... and others... hahahaha...
Now I'm starting to think that I should've been doing blogpost every day... hahaha.. cause this blogpost is getting longer and longer...
since it's a bit long already I am finalizing my post with some comparisons in mind... hahaha...
Compared to the Philippines...
1. Tallahassee or any other state that I've been to is much cleaner....
2. Tallahassee or any other state that I've been to has disciplined people...
3. You can rob things at the mall and they don't mind... (very true... they really trust each people... ) proof?? at the restaurant we've been to.. we ate fist before paying... and paying would be at the counter... meaning... you can walk out the restaurant without even paying...
4. US people are very sociable... if in the Philippines we've been taught not to talk to strangers... here at USA... "You can talk to strangers for a long as they don't hurt you..."
5. US people are so friendly... I am starting to get used to greeting people good mornings even if I don't know them or even have a chit chat without even knowing their names... hehehe...
6. I am really craving for rice... cause Rice is not a neccessity here at USA...
7. Burgers are much bigger here at USA than ours...
8. Servings here at USA is much greater than ours... Every meal can be eaten by two or three persons already...
9. US people has big waistlines... instead of having a coke body... they are having a pig body... hahaha...
10.Most of them were slangs... hahahaha... I can hear many schwa sounds... missing R's...
11.There are many JOLOGS people around the mall...
12.People have the right of way... that's the golden rule in every street here at US...
13.Time is precious...
14.Sale events is truly a sale event... the minimum sale i've seen so far is 30% up to 90% discount... like an adidas jacket... from $40 the price became $5... hehehe...
15.Malls has less people compared to malls at Philippines where a bunch of people are inside...
16.If in the Philippines, you will find a hard time looking for a seat at Mcdonalds... well here at USA... Mcdonalds was most of the time has a sit... meaning it won't be full of people...
17.Lunch Buffet = Burger at Burger King
18.No night life... T_T
19.Only a few CHECK girls... T_T
20.Sun was still up until 8:30 to 9:00 pm... 6:00 pm is just like 3:00 pm at the Philippines... 8:00 pm is just like 6:00 pm... hehehe...
21.No traffic even if there were lots of cars in here...
22.Mercedez Benz was just a normal car.. even the Jaguar was just a normal car here...
23.Speed measurement is not kph but mph (miles per hour)
24.Infrastructures was so nice here and also the buses was so cool
25.I'm gaining weight... even if I'm craving for rice...

Pictures will follow... hehehehehe...
